What is a Blue-White Diamond?
The term Blue-White Diamond is an older term used by jewelers and describes the fluorescence of the diamond under UV lights. A Blue White Diamond emits blue colored light.
Many jewelers will advise their customers that these Blue White Diamonds hold a very high value but the FTC is now controlling the use of the term because of misuse and deception.

As most individuals are aware, the clearer the diamond is the more value it holds, where as a diamond with a yellow tinge has a lower value. Fluorescence at a perfect level will reduce the impact of yellow tinge in a diamond hence making that diamond appear colorless and increasing it’s value. However, fluorescence at a perfect level is rare and more likely the fluorescence will have a negative affect on the diamond, making it shine less in light or appear milky under sunlight, hence reducing the value of the diamond.
Make sure when buying a diamond, if the jeweler states it is a Blue White Diamond, ask if you can view the diamond under sunlight and then trust your eyes.
